Robotic surgery is a minimally invasive technique that is being increasingly used to perform surgery on the abdomen and pelvis. In true sense it’s a Robotic assisted Laparoscopic surgery where surgeon controls the robot from a console instead of directly manipulating the instruments.
The surgeon makes few small incisions over the abdomen similar like laparoscopy and A high-definition 3D camera is inserted through one of the incisions. While using Other small incisions, instruments are passed like Laparoscopy and they are attached to the Robotic arms.
The surgeon uses a console to control the robotic arms that hold the camera and other instruments The surgeon views the magnified 3D stereoscopic view on the console.
Benefits
Surgeon can perform more complex surgery with comfort specially Suturing is more easy than conventional laparoscopy, etc
Robotic laparoscopic surgery is often used for several Gynaecological conditions, such as Endometriosis, Fibroid, Hysterectomy, Adenomyomectomy, Ovarian Cyst removal, Gynaecological cancers, Pelvic organ prolapse surgeries, Ectopic pregnancy, Tubal re canalisation microsurgery, Urogynaecological procedures, Fertility Enhancing/ Preserving surgeries, dermoid cyst, Isthmocele repair etc
